FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Gaskell Distributes False Information

Angela's opponent recently began distributing information to the voters of Vernon County that is false and misleading. He claims that in his years of practicing law, he has handled approximately 3300 more cases than she has, and that she has had no jury trials. This is categorically untrue

The diagram on his mailer is absolutely false. In addition to juvenile cases, Angela has handled countless adult confidential cases which are not shown in his misleading diagram. Further, any attorney who practices defense work understands the workload of a defense attorney cannot be compared to that of a prosecutor.

A large part of Angela's caseload throughout her career has included guardianships, protective placements, juvenile delinquency cases, child and juvenile protection cases, termination of parental rights, injunctions involving minors and vulnerable individuals, and adult and juvenile mental health commitments. These case types are confidential by law. Angela's opponent knows these records are not accessible and thus cannot be seen or counted by him or the public.

He also asserts to voters that she has had zero jury trials. Vernon County residents who sat on the juries of cases in which Angela was the defense attorney know this to be untrue. The fact that her opponent was unable to find that information on CCAP (Consolidated Court Automation Program) does not mean that those trials did not occur. In addition to Criminal jury trials, Angela has had jury trials on confidential cases, and numerous trials in court. Therefore he is falsely stating that Angela has less experience than she actually has. It is hard to understand why someone with 32 years of legal experience is not being clear and honest with the citizens of Vernon County.

Angela's campaign focuses on why she would be a good judge for Vernon County, and the issues she will focus on if elected. Angela is proud of the skills she has gained in her almost 20 years in the courtroom, and of the respect garnered from her fellow attorneys, clients, and the community. Throughout her career, Angela has handled a wide range of cases in multiple counties, which makes her well-qualified to be your next Vernon County Circuit Court Judge.

Hello, I'm Angela.
Here’s why I’m running.

I believe Vernon County deserves an impartial Circuit Court judge who will decide a case fairly, exercise patience, and ensure that everyone receives dignity and respect in Court. I am grounded by my commitment to justice for all and pledge to follow the law as it is written, regardless of my personal or political views.

I’m proud to have been born and raised in southwest Wisconsin. My husband and I chose to make Vernon County our home so our children could experience the same sense of belonging, security, and values that I grew up with. Because of that upbringing, I know the value of hard work, and the importance of respecting all members of our community—despite personal differences. As an attorney for over 19 years in local private practice, I also know the issues and challenges we face.

Who your judge is matters.

A judge must balance the need to protect communities with the goal of helping individuals return to being productive members of society. Balancing these two sometimes competing objectives is crucial. Years of working in the courtroom on criminal cases, family law and juvenile matters have molded my perspective.

I have the experience and temperament to handle the responsibility of being your next Vernon County Circuit Court Judge and the compassion and empathy to treat everyone humanely.

My 19+ years of courtroom experience includes Criminal jury trials, confidential jury trials and numerous bench trials.

My practice also includes numerous Family and Juvenile cases; Mental Health commitments and Guardianships across multiple counties. The majority of these cases are confidential and inaccessible to the general public and to my opponent.

My goal as a judge is the safety and prosperity of Vernon County and all its residents. I have seen firsthand that treating individuals with fairness, respect, and decency goes a long way toward helping them to become once again contributing members of society. Your vote will help me bring that same fairness and experience to the courtroom—and to our community.

I would be honored to serve as your next Vernon County Circuit Court Judge, and I would appreciate your vote on April 4, 2023. Thank you!
